history.

Sharefest Community Development started in 2004, when a few members of King's Harbor Church decided to mobilize volunteers and other churches for a community Workday. From the success of those first projects, Sharefest has grown into a stand-alone 501c3 non-profit organization that serves communities throughout the Los Angeles South Bay and Harbor areas. The Workday has become a tradition for local churches, and has helped them establish lasting relationships with members of the local community.

today.

Last year nearly 100 churches participated in several hundred projects during the Workday. We anticpate more participation this year. Churches are working alongside local school districts, civic organizations and local businesses to tackle projects to bring about positive change in their communities.

faith in action.

The Workday is an opportunity to live out the Christian faith commitment, serve others, and create new relationships, or deepen existing relationships, with our community. Sharefest maintains a database of project requests that churches can view and select to adopt, or send volunteers to partner with another church or organization.

developing leaders.

A challenge for many churches is raising up more leaders, and Sharefest can help them do that. Sharefest provides an opportunity for volunteers to participate in organizational training that will equip your emerging leaders to help mobilize your congregation to serve the community. There are many examples of individuals that begin their journey of service through participation in a Workday.

something for everyone.

Many people struggle to find the time to participate in service to their community, but with the Workday they know they can set aside one Saturday to work, serve and be an example to others. For those with more time, there is the opportunity to participate in the planning and coordination of the projects, or even becoming a project leader.

Sharefest began as part of a church and is thankful to continue to serve the Greater Los Angeles area with so many churches from our faith community.
