FAQs: Workday Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in ShareFest's 7th Annual Workday which takes place on May 1, 2010.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions about volunteering for the Workday – including questions about our partnership with Disney's "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day" promotion. And if you have other questions, please email workday@sharefestinc.org and join our social networks:

1. Question: Do I need to sign up to volunteer for the Workday?
-- Answer: Yes, you do need to register through ShareFest's online volunteer system. CLICK HERE to begin the registration process which consists of three simple steps. If you have problems completing this process, see our registration guide [CLICK HERE].

2. Q: Can I register a group to volunteer?
-- A: Yes, you can register a group of volunteers on our online volunteer system. Go to the same volunteer link (CLICK HERE). After you select a project and enter "Your Information" (name, organization, volunteer hours) you can enter "Other Information" and "Add Person." You can add up to seven guests or family members. However, we do encourage each member to register a separate account since individual volunteers should indicate their work skills, which will be useful for us organizing the event. Note: Make sure that if your guest/family member also registers a separate account, then you should delete the user as a guest since the count of volunteers will be skewed -- thus, affecting our organization of the project activity.

3. Q: Can I see the list of available projects without registering on the site?
-- A: Yes, CLICK HERE. And if you are interested in one of the projects, you can register through the volunteer system and select the project.

4. Q: Where is the Workday located?
-- A: The Workday consists of many volunteer activities located throughout the Los Angeles South Bay and Harbor areas. When register for the Workday through ShareFest's online volunteer system you will choose one of the many activities. Once you select and signup for a specific project you will find out more details in the project details and the Project Manager will contact you with further details.

5. Q: How do I find out more details about my selected Workday project?
– A: You can log into your user account at ShareFest's online volunteer system and view the project details. To do so make sure you are at your user account "Home" page; under the heading "My Projects" you will see the project you have signed up for; click on the name of the project and you will see the project details. Also, you can email the Project Manager by clicking on "contact" under the project details view.

6. Q: How can I prepare for the Workday?
-- A: While you are preparing for the Workday on May 1st, we hope that you would consider contributing towards the Workday in these ways:

  • Pledge Drive – We've partnered with eDivvy.com in creating an easy and fun pledge drive for you to ask your family and friends to support your participation in the Workday. To automatically set up a customized pledge drive account, log onto your ShareFest account (CLICK HERE) and on your home screen click the text box "Find out more ways to support the 2010 Workday" and then click on the eDivvy.com link.

  • ShareChange – Please consider collecting your spare change and bringing them to your Workday project site on May 1st.

7. Q: Is the Workday a part of Disney's "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day" promotion?
-- A: Yes, ShareFest has partnered with Disney for its promotion. Unfortunately, Disney has ended the program and are not allowing new individuals to register for their promotion.

8. Q: I already registered with Disney's "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day" program. What else do I need to do to get my Disney pass?
-- A: In order to qualify for the Disney free pass you must complete the following steps:

  • (1) Register at Disney's website. (Note: Unfortunately, Disney is not accepting any new registrations).

  • (2) Register at ShareFest's online volunteer system (CLICK HERE). There you will select a specific project and provide us with your details so we can match your records with Disney's records. NOTE: Make sure to register with the same name as your Disney registration.

  • (3) Volunteer at the Workday. At the Workday you will need to complete and turn in a waiver form which we will use to verify your attendance.

  • (4) Wait for Disney to email you with details about the free pass. Within 72 hours of the Workday , ShareFest will verify your attendance to Disney, and then Disney will be contacting with you with further details

9. Q: Does each person registered with Disney need to be registered separately with ShareFest?
-- A: No, each person does not need to register individually -- although we do encourage it when possible. See Question #2 above for details about registering a group. NOTE: Make sure when you sign up your guests or family members that the names are the same name as on the Disney registration. This will be critical for our verification with Disney regarding your participation.

10. Q: Where do I get more details about the Disney promotion?
-- A: Visit Disney's website and FAQs. CLICK HERE

Hi Selina,

You will need to contact Disney or check out its Frequently Asked Questions (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/WhatWillYouCelebrate/index?name=Give-A-Day-Get-A-Disney-Day-Terms-Conditions-FAQs). ShareFest will only be able to verify attendance for those names on Disney's list of registrants. Let me know if you have more questions.
Henry
