Collaboration: Barnhart Balfour Beatty and the Workday

Barnhart Balfour Beatty, a full-service general contractor commonly recognized for being one of the largest builders of schools in the United States, has built a well-earned reputation as a leader within the construction industry. Complementing this, Barnhart Balfour Beatty has also established and maintained a tradition of contributing to and being active within the communities it serves in a lasting and meaningful way.  As a sustaining benefactor of Sharefest and a multi-year participant in Sharefest’s Annual Workdays, Barnhart Balfour Beatty has shown exceptional commitment to local communities within the South Bay area of Los Angeles and continued support for the vision of Sharefest.

Through the partnership with Sharefest in the 8th Annual Workday on May 14th, Barnhart Balfour Beatty has adopted multiple projects for a number of schools, and will be providing materials, manpower, and expertise for several projects. These include the installation of a natural outdoor reading space, mural paintings, the upgrading of an amphitheater, playground improvement, and many other projects.

Towers Elementary School Garden (before)Towers Elementary School (Torrance, CA) is just one of the TEN schools for which projects have been adopted by Barnhart Balfour Beatty. Workday activities at this particular location will include restoring previously painted murals and the addition of new ones, redesigning the teacher’s lounge, cleaning the bathrooms, and the design and installation of a garden with an irrigation system.

The contributions made by Barnhart Balfour Beatty in previous years and in the upcoming Workday have been invaluable in helping Sharefest achieve new levels of success in fostering community-based volunteerism and the implementation of projects that improve the lives and experiences of those living within the South Bay and Harbor areas.  Speaking about Barnhart Balfour Beatty, Chad Mayer, Executive Director of Sharefest Community Development, says,
